01 — The qualification file
Material certification under EN 10204, heat traceability, dimensional reports and process documentation form a chain that must reconcile. Any break in that chain functionally blocks the part.
02 — Verifying capability
On-site verification of metrology and process control remains the only reliable qualification method. Declared capability and demonstrated capability diverge frequently.
03 — Contract and jurisdiction
A single governing law and a clear liability chain determine whether a defect becomes a commercial negotiation or a multi-year dispute.
04 — Programme design
Parallel qualification of a second source is an insurance premium, not a redundancy. Programmes that budget for it recover from disruption in weeks rather than quarters.
